About Us

Bharari run For shelter and physical, mental & economic rehabilitation of all types of handicapped persons - i.e. Blind, Mentally Retarded and Deaf & Mute Persons

It all started way back in 1994 when a small group of 6-7 disabled persons residing in Dombivli; a suburb of Mumbai, used to meet at an abandoned garden every Sunday. Vijay Pradhan (Bhau), Sanjeev Mandrekar, DilipAdhalikar, Mandar Dixit, Chandrashekhar Bejkar, Vinod Shah were among them. It used to be merely an informal meeting on their wheelchairs to share their problems and happy moments together.

Our Project

Apangalaya - A Home Away From Home For Totally Dependent Persons!

APANGALAYA is the flagship project of Bharari for permanent residence for totally dependent persons. After the inception of Bharari, we started thinking of having a place where Physically Challenged Persons with problems of mobility and ill-health can be admitted and looked after. It took seven years thereafter to start such a home.

Our Team

During the course of Bharari’s two decades we lost our beloved President Mr.Vijay Pradhan (Bhau), Prabhakar Bhave, (Founder Advisor), Ms. Meena Veerkar, DilipAdhalikar (Appa) and Deshpande Kaka, driving forces behind all our activities were disabled themselves, but always with positive attitude and self-dependent having a smile on their faces and confidence in their work. There is a long way to go for Bharari without them, but with the help of members and well-wishers we are confident of making their dreams come true.
